Added 'Fast scan', which speeds up folder scans enormously on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and later. Added folder watching, so that real-time backups can be triggered when folder contents change. See the Start Options for details. Available on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and later. Added backup monitoring, so that email notification for a backup that occurs, has errors, is missed, or doesn't complete is sent. Status and logs for backups can be accessed using any web browser. Emails are sent even if the computer scheduled to do the backup is inoperative.
Added copying of ACLs (Access Control Lists), which provide an enhanced method of allowing and denying access to files. Added a separate display of the name of the file to be opened in 'Start Options' and 'Completion Options'. When multiple items are all on the same disk, the disk name is shown below the 'Multiple Items' label on the folder, both in the Main Window and in the 'Files To Copy' window. A linked sync (executed using 'Open a file' in the Completion Options) now runs before any other sync in the Waiting List. The top-level folder of a sync or backup is no longer removed when 'Move files' is checked.

This version of Synchronize! Pro X requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later. Added a window which shows the current system disk. On Leopard, don't assume that the disk icon in the top-right of the Desktop is the system (boot) disk, because it may not be. Instead, open Synchronize! Pro X and use the Windows menu to choose 'System Disk'.
Setup documents are now packages, so that QuickLook can be supported on Leopard. The conversion to a package happens automatically when the document is saved. Fixed a problem which could cause a 'too many files open' error if many backups were run over a long period of time. Fixed a problem which prevented the computer from shutting down at the completion of a backup or synchronization.
Disk mounting should be less fragile, because volume UUID's are now used to identify and mount a disk. Connections to remote disks no longer hang the application while the connection is made, and the connection attempt can be cancelled at any time.
A warning is now issued when the volume partition scheme isn't the Apple-supported 'GUID Partition Scheme'. Some Intel Macs won't boot from a disk with the 'Apple Partition Method' scheme, while others will.

Version 3.4 May 1, 2004. The Files To Copy window is substantially improved. Changes include being able to open any number of items in the list, showing icons for files and folders, faster generation of the window and very rapid scrolling. The Files To Copy window now has a 'Don't copy' button which allows specific files and folders to be excluded from future operations.
The path to any existing file or folder in the Files To Copy list can be seen by command-clicking the item's icon. The path can be copied by option-clicking the icon. Textual paths are available in a standard form and a special form suitable for Terminal (special characters are escaped). There is a new page in the Preferences for setting the behavior of the Files To Copy window, including font and type size. Added criteria for including and excluding specific files.
The entire path is used to identify the files, so files of the same name are distinguished. Added separate matching criteria for each file or folder partial name. For example, criteria can now include files that 'start with' 'myTest' or end with '.jpg'. The path to a file or folder included by 'Which are in the list' is shown when the mouse is held over the folder name. Added the ability to automatically prune old archived files by age.

Added the ability to make bootable system backups without having to log in as root. All files which are copied or deleted are now entered in the Log, when the 'Log copied files' preference is checked. The 'Scanning folders.'

Added a progress bar for the folder scan. If a disk is found to be full while replacing a file, the file to be replaced is deleted. Normally, the file is not deleted until the replacement file is fully copied. Added 'Skip all files with this error' to the File Errors Preferences so that all files with a particular error can be skipped after a period of time. Added 'Skip files.'
To the Options menu. This allows files which can't be copied because of insufficient privileges to be skipped.
The backed-up volume is now bootable without selecting it in System Preferences. Date and time of the last backup is now correctly displayed in Japanese.
Norton FileSaver files are skipped, to avoid a crash when these files are written. 'Copy locked state' is now the default setting for syncs and backups. Fixed a problem which occurred when copying locked folders from a Windows server. Folders can't be unlocked in the Finder, and are never locked in OS X, so they are never locked when copying them. This feature optionally allows all file and folder privileges to be copied, even when the files themselves don't need to be copied, and privileges of copied files and folders to be specifically set.
